What usually moves

• Customers and their billing terms, addresses and contacts.
• Items, SKUs, units of measure and any item-level notes the floor relies on.
• On-hand inventory counts, with a count date attached so nothing is silently stale.
• Open orders, inbound appointments and anything already in flight on cut-over day.
• Rate cards, storage rules and accessorial prices, so billing starts correctly.
• Historical orders, if you decide with us that they should move.

What does not move

What stays behind is part of what we agree with you.

Whoever runs your migration, ask for these steps:

1. We review your data with you: what exists, what shape it is in, what matters.
2. We agree what moves where, including what gets left behind.
3. A trial import into a test copy, with counts and spot values checked against the old system.
4. A cut-over date, with the old system kept read-only if your vendor allows it.
5. Counts signed off before the team goes live.

Check your export rights now

• Can you export customers, items and inventory as a file today, without asking permission?
• Is there a fee, a time limit or a support ticket between you and your own data?
• Does the export include history, or only what the system considers active?
• What does the contract say happens to your data when it ends?

If a vendor charges for an export or limits it, raise that before you sign anything else.
